Partial Government Shutdown Doesn't Affect OSHA

On December 21st, 2018, the White House and Congress failed to come to an agreement on spending. The result: A quarter of the government has no funding. The federal government shutdown began December 22nd with no end in sight.

What does this mean for OSHA?

Thanks to five appropriations bills passed last fall, these departments are open and funded:

  • Department of Defense
  • Department of Health and Human Services
  • Department of Energy and Water
  • Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Department of Labor

OSHA and MSHA fall under the Department of Labor, which is fully funded through October 1st, 2019. These agencies will continue to enforce regulations and prosecute citations.
